Feb. 6/26

Fairview Olympic Fun!

We had our own Olympic celebrations at Fairview this week! Students enjoyed a parade of athletes, curling, speed skating, skeleton, hockey, lots of cheering, and even a special figure‑skating performance from the teachers. Ask your child what their favourite event was!

We hope everyone has their Olympic Reading Calendar in a handy spot and is “Reading for Gold.”

#1 Canadian presentations started on Thursday.  We learned all about Shaienne and Sophia and enjoyed their posters and thoughtful sharing. Theo and Devon will present this week.

Spelling Update

Please note that Spelling Lesson 5 will take place over two weeks due to our shortened school weeks.

Tuesday, Feb. 10 – Science World Field Trip

Please ensure your child arrives on time (8:25 AM), as we will be leaving shortly after attendance.   Students should bring:

  • labelled bag lunch
  • A snack in their pocket to eat before entering Science World

Thank you to our parent volunteers: Laura, Aleisha, Emily, and Joey!  Could please each bring a backpack to carry your group's lunches, thanks.

Feb. 12 - Valentines Day Celebration and Pancake Breakfast (sponsored by our PAC) ... This will be a fun but busy day so we decided that instead of having our snacks and treats that we had scheduled for this day I'm asking families to bring them for a Spring Celebration that will be determined at a later date. If you have any questions about this let me know.

**Please note and follow the portal announcement that was sent out about Valentines.  These are the students in Div. 13 - Devon, Hussain, Shaienne, Walter, Casey, Theo, Chase, Lilac, Yabsira, Kreaden, Nolan, Maxyn, Caelus, Frazer, Zayn, Rajveer, Sophia    Please include everyone when making valentines.

Friday, Feb. 13th is an non-instructional day.

Friday, Feb. 20th - Hundred Day                                                                                          This year, each family is asked to send 100 small edible items (pre‑counted). Examples include: mini marshmallows, Starbursts, Skittles, Smarties, M&M’s, popcorn, Cheesies, bubblegum, Cheerios, Chex, Fruit Loops, chocolate chips, or raisins.                                       We will be working with groups of 100 to make one big bowl of treats for everyone to enjoy!

Tuesday, Feb, 24th we have our walking field trip to Westview to see the drama presentation of  The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood

Mark Your Calendars

  • Skating with our Big Buddies – March 10
